It seems to me that people will research and ask questions about any purchase they may make. They look at stereo equipment and learn every subtlety of the particular speakers or receiver they may want, they evaluate every component of a new TV or car, and yet they wont ask any questions of the doctor that will be caring for them and their health needs.
Your health, your body, is a very important factor to consider when making a decision about orthodontic treatment. You will buy several cars over your lifetime. You may buy more than one house. You will certainly buy more than one stereo. For me, the issue is doing the research AND asking how the doctor will make life better by providing the treatment he recommends. How long can it last? (You only want to do this once!) What type of service can I expect while having my teeth straightened? What are the long term effects of the treatment that is being proposed and what are my responsibilities in maintaining the results provided?
In short, the most important questions are…”Doctor, what can I expect from your office during treatment and what will you expect from me?”
